This year marks our 10 year anniversary of sponsorship of the 65 Roses Ball in support of Cystic Fibrosis South Australia Incorporated. Cystic Fibrosis is an insidious life shortening, affecting lung function. Sufferers may ultimately require lung transplants.
Unfortunately in Australia, organ transplant donation rates very much lag demand. Statistics suggest that there are approximately 1,500 Australians on transplant wait lists. Sadly, many patients do not survive while waiting for a suitable transplant.
When considering your estate planning, perhaps consider organ donation and include your wishes, not only in your Will but on the organ donation register. Most importantly, discuss your wishes and your intentions with your family so that they are aware of, respect and give effect to your wishes if the situation ever arises.
